Engagement Photo Style…

Almost two years ago, hubs and I decided to take our engagement photos in a place near and dear to both of us.  Our shoot was located in a gorgeous town twenty minutes outside of Cleveland where he is a firefighter/paramedic and was also the location of his first job.  My family owns businesses in this town as well.  Nothing beats the setting of small town Midwestern charm.  Natural waterfalls, lush gardens and a very old gazebo. Beautiful and quaint..we wanted our photos to reflect US.  Nothing too staged or over the top.  Just us…our amazingly cool photographers, a few fire trucks…and great shoes:

I hope these photos inspire some of you! Enjoy!

Bridal Shower Style…

My bridal shower last spring was what dreams are made of.  Given to me by three of my wonderfully stylish aunts; we all had a fabulous time with lots of tulle and glitter to go around.  My aunts carefully planned and executed this gorgeous shower without so much as a peep to me.  I was kept totally in the dark and oh what a surprise it was.  It was so….ME!  It was rustic yet classic, girly yet chic.  I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and thoughtful afternoon with my closest family and friends.  Obviously I lost sleep over what to wear to my first bridal shower.  After vetoing every single thing in my closet and worrying about it endlessly…I decided that I would simply stay true to me.  Pink+glitter=a happy Emma.  So that’s what I wore.  My best friend bought me the GLORIOUS shoes for Christmas one year. Believe it or not; my mother has always been a fantastic shopper for me; even since I was litte.  She still is.  On a work trip to Chicago with my aunt; she came home with this adorable dress for me from Topshop.  “I thought of you when I saw it”.  And there you have it: moms are ALWAYS right and all you need is a best friend who knows your shoe style.

I hope a glimpse into my special day inspires some of you who may be planning a wedding or bridal shower for a girlfriend, sister or cousin!  My advice: stay true to your style..plus a little extra glitter 😉
